Lady Grace
Lady Grace is a 65-west coaster locally built by Freeman Bay boat builders to handle our West Australian coastal conditions.
In commercial boat building terms, she’s ‘out of the big mould’ which means she’s wide and she’s heavy, she has a beam of 6 metres, draws 1.8 metres with a full length solid keel and weighs just under 40 tonnes. So what does this mean for you, the fisherman?
Well, as any good experienced commercial fisherman/skipper will tell you, when its comes to boats you can’t beat weight in the water. A big keel means that when drift fishing, the drift rate is slow so you can hold bottom better and when anchored, the swing rate is reduced & slower. If you are serious about fishing the wild and rugged Western Australian Coast, this is the type of boat you need to be on.
Lady Grace is also in full commercial Australian survey which complies to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority Regulations and is inspected annually by AMSA so you can be rest assured you are on a safe and capable vessel when you book with Apache Charters.
Because Lady Grace is a very versatile charter vessel, this enables us to operate our North west live aboard charters from the Abrolhos, Shark Bay and the Montebello Islands as well as in Perth for our Swan River Cruises, Carnac and Rottnest Island Boat charters. The boat is set up for serious fishing but fitted out so you’re comfortable throughout your time onboard.
In order to operate all of our charters effectively and professionally, we set the boat up differently for each season. When the boat returns to Perth for the Summer season in November, the boat is taken out of the water completely spring cleaned, all the live aboard fittings are removed and the boat is transformed into the river cruise mode. Again in March before the Lady Grace heads off for the north west live aboard season, all the river cruise fittings are removed and the live aboard fixtures are loaded on.
